Skin Peels

Aging of the skin, sun damaged and pigmented skin, acne and acne scars, skin pores, mottled complexion, melasma and stretch marks are all indications that skin peeling may be appropriate. Skin peel can be applied individually or in combination with pigment removal substances or vitamins. With skin peeling the most outer dead layer of the skin is removed. The skin then becomes well toned and healthier, smoother and younger looking. At Allure Eye and Cosmetic Center we offer skin peels at strengths only available to physicians.

Alpha hydroxyacid (AHA) or Glycolic acid peel

We offer Alpha hydroxyacid (AHA) at strengths only available to physicians and a combination of %5 Kojic acid, bearberry, white mulberry and vitamins A, C, E are also involved. AHA is a major exfoliant that reduces the thickness of the skin dead layer and it resists acne formation. Rejuvenated skin is the result as AHA stimulates the fibroblast and increases the synthesis of the collagen, elastin. AHA stimulates the kinetics of the outer skin, increasing its permeability. Thus, the pigmentation removal agents and multivitamins that we use in combination with AHA peel can penetrate the skin easily. The AHA peel can be effectively applied to all photo type skin and both the face and the body. This includes the neck, neckline, hands and knees. The AHA peel treatment takes 15 minutes. During the treatment, when the peeling solution is applied, the patient may experience a slight prickling sensation, but this will quickly subsides. Sunscreen should be applied to the face after the peel treatment. To maintain the best results, AHA peeling is recommended for 4-6 sessions twice yearly. The following substances are used as an adjunct with AHA peel in our clinic:

• Kojic acid is a natural molecule produced by certain mushrooms and is a powerful pigmentation removal agent. Extract of bearberry leaves containing hydroquinone is the best-known pigmentation removal agent. It inhibits the activity of the tyrosinases, an enzyme involved in melanin or pigment formation.

• Extract of White Mulberry is also a pigment removal agent. It works as a captor of free radicals and as an anti-oxidant. It destroys and prevents formation of unstable molecules, which cause cellular damage and protects the skin from the harmful effects of free radicals.

• Vitamin A is one of the most powerful anti-aging agents. The aging of the skin involves a reduction of cell renewal and enzyme activity, and a thinning of the epidermis.

• Vitamin A stimulates cell renewal and corrects the thinning of the skin. It also improves dry skin and reduces rough patches. Vitamin C is a well-known anti-oxidant that traps free radicals. It improves skin tone, firmness and is a vital cofactor for the synthesis of collagen. It also stimulates the fibroblasts that are the origin of new skin tissue. Vitamin C can also prevent excessive formation of pigment of the skin.

• Vitamin E is another anti-oxidant. It protects the body tissues from the harmful products originating from normal metabolism or those formed by certain external toxic agents. It is an anti free radical agent. Vitamin E stimulates the revitalization of the epidermis by activating the micro- circulation. It reduces inflammation of the skin and improves dry and sensitive skin. It makes the skin supple and reduces rough patches of the skin.

Trichloracetic acid (TCA)

Trichloracetic acid (TCA) is a deeper peel than alpha hydroxy acid. It is also a major exfoliant and progressively renews the outer layer of the skin. It increases the skin cell permeability and allows delivery of substances such as antiaging, antioxdiant and pigment removal agents to the skin after the peel treatment. TCA stimulates the fibroblasts to produce more collagen, elastin and glycosaminoglycans. The result is an improved skin, elimination of wrinkles, acne, and tightening of the skin pores. TCA also normalizes the pigment level of the skin and increases dermal microcirculation. The skin condition is dramatically improved and well toned. The TCA peel can be effectively applied to all photo type skin and on both the face and the body. This includes the neck, neckline, hands, and knees. Strechmarks can also be treated. At our Allure Eye and Cosmetic Center, the TCA does not require any preparation of the skin, no anesthesia is necessary and it can safely be applied weekly. The TCA peel treatment takes about 15 minutes and the patient may very briefly experience a mild stinging sensation which is relived with application of a special post peel cream. There is virtually no down time for the patient. The TCA treatment process should be repeated on a weekly basis for 4-5 sessions. This is so the progressive regeneration of the skin can continue. If the results of the skin rejuvenation are successful no more treatments should be needed. It is important for patients to apply sunscreen to the face after the peel procedure. Post peel cream ingredients include Vitamins A, C and E.

Permanent Makeup

Permanent Cosmetic Makeup or Micro Pigmentation is the practice of applying micro insertions of pigment to the dermal layer of the skin through a delicate hand piece. Then the area of treatment is cleansed and topical anesthetic is applied. In applying pigment to sensitive areas such as lips a local anesthetic can be utilized to make the experience as gentle and as comfortable as possible. Next, through a delicate hand piece the pigment is placed in the dermal layer. Depending on the treatment area, the procedure can take from 30-40 minutes.

After the procedure some swelling and redness of the skin is expected which will subside quickly. Post procedure care is minimal and normal activity is resumed almost immediately. Sun exposure to the area is discouraged for a couple of weeks. Final results are obtained in 2-3 weeks.
