Through the recent advances in technology hair laser removal has become a true reality. This procedure is gentle and patient friendly. It is a non-invasive approach to permanent reduction of unwanted hair. The treatment is specifically designed to eliminate undesired hair from all part of the body. It safely eliminates hundreds of unwanted hair follicles in a short time.
The emitted laser light penetrates the skin and is absorbed by the melanin of the hair follicles. The generated heat from laser light damages the hair follicles and stops their ability for future re-growth, resulting in permanent hair reduction. Larger areas such as back, shoulder and legs require more time to treat than smaller areas such as upper lips, eyebrows and chin. Since laser affects only those hair follicles that are in the growth phase (the Anagen phase) more than one treatment is usually necessary. This is done to stop those hair follicles that are in the dormant phase (the Catagen phase) and will subsequently enter the growth phase.
Nearly all hair colors (black, brown, and red) can be treated. The treatment is effective on all skin types, including dark skinned individuals and various ethnic groups.
The treated area is cleansed and the hair is shaved. During the treatment a slight stinging feeling is felt. No local anesthesia or pain medication is necessary; however topical anesthetic is an option for more sensitive areas. Side effects are rare. Occasionally, redness, blistering or scabbing might occur at the treatment site, but resolves quickly within a few days. Sun exposure is discouraged for 2-4 weeks before and after treatment. This greatly minimizes the risk of complications.

Spider veins are unsightly red purplish dilated small veins that develop due to prolonged standing, familial predisposition, pregnancy or trauma. They occur in women more often than in men. Mostly found on the legs or face, they can form anywhere in the body. Using support hose, exercise and weight control can prevent spider veins. Appropriate treatment is determined by the diameter of the dilated vessel. In general, the laser is utilized to treat dilated vessels 1-2 millimeters or less. Larger diameter dilated vessels are treated either with the laser or sclerotherapy. Sometimes, for optimum results both treatment methods are required.
At Allure Eye and Cosmetic Center we use an advanced DioLite- laser to treat spider veins. With our state of the art laser, patients will have quick, gentle, safe and effective treatment of spider veins. This laser technology now makes it possible to treat spider veins smaller than one millimeter in diameter. The emitted laser beam is absorbed by the red blood cells filling the spider veins and causes them to occlude and shrink with time. As spider veins usually have developed from prolonged standing or pregnancy, they are not essential for normal blood circulation. The laser beam is delivered via a pencil like hand piece directly to the skin’s treatment area. The treatment duration is a few minutes. There maybe a slight stinging sensation during the treatment. Some redness may result in the treated area, but will be resolved in 2-4 hours. Post care is minimal and normal daily activities can be resumed. For most patients one treatment is sufficient. Final results will be visible in 4-8 weeks, however studies show the process of vein occlusion and shrinkage continues up to three months and sometimes longer after the laser treatment. Unlike other lasers, the DioLite-laser eliminates spider veins without bruising, discoloration or a darkening of the skin.

Sclerotherapy was developed over half a century ago. With this treatment a small amount of sclerosing solution is injected directly into the vein. This solution causes the closure of the vessel lumen. With an injection of the solution, there maybe a slight burning sensation for the patient. The procedure takes a few seconds. After the injection a pressure bandage is placed over the treated area and to remain in place for a few hours. Disappearance of the treated spider veins will take 4-8 weeks gradually after the treatment. Normal daily activity can be resumed almost immediately. In the majority of cases one injection is sufficient, however the procedure can be repeated if it is required. Normal daily activity can be resumed almost immediately; however vigorous activities or excessive standing is not advised for 24 to 48 hours. Occasionally slight bruising or some discoloration of skin might occur with the treatment procedures. However, this will be of short duration and final results will be realized within 8 weeks.

Age spots and freckles are dark and pigmented lesions. They are often caused due to frequent sun exposure to the face, back and hands. Melanin is the dark pigment that is present in the skin and is produced by a group of cells called melanocytes. Pigmented lesions form when there is an excess of melancocytes found in the skin. When the dark pigment multiplies it form freckles and brown age spots.
The majority of pigmented lesions can be removed with laser treatment. Results are excellent with no swelling or complications. Treatments are generally performed with out anesthesia. Post treatment care is minimal and normal daily activity can be resumed after treatment.
Other conditions such as Rosecea can also be treated effectively with the laser. Roseceas lesions are facial lesions that are found on a person’s nose and cheeks, making the face have redness.
